Usage Tips[]
The Ninja Sword and its variants are as unremarkable as it gets when it comes to weapons in NtBSS, which is not to say that they are bad but that they don't excell in any particular field. The well rounded stats leave it without major flaws and place it confidently in the middle of the pack when it comes to trading blows with other melee weapons. Additionally, having a move that can break opponents guards with a single hit and leave them wide open for a follow-up makes guarding against Heal types inherently risky. The biggest drawback of these weapons is the lack of combos, since every Heavy attack cancel will lead into the same slow overhead attack, giving opponents time to escape or punish the wielder. For this reason the Heavy attack should be reserved only to punish guarding opponents or catch them in a frame trap where most of their options would result in getting hit. Other flaws in the weapon's design stem from the shallow move pool. Leveraging the Ninja sword for the primary source of damage forces the player to repeatedly engage an opponent after knocking them back, resulting in more opportunities for them to counter the Heal types game plan. This can be slightly remedied by synergistic Ninja tools or Ninjutsus which help stringing together more hits. Examples of this would be Cherry Blossom Clash or Crimson Drizzle which can be used at the beginning and end of most combos.

This can be used on guarding opponents that expect a regular charge attack. Overriding the with the guard breaking attack is hard to react to and can mess with an opponents defensive game plan. If the target dropped their guard before the input, cancelling the attack won't be necessary.
