Octopus Hug is one of the Ninjutsu available to use in Shinobi Striker - as a part of Season Pass 2.
Properties[]
Octopus Hug has the user create a pair of Gyuki's tentacles, which ignore guard to bind a single opponent in range, then constricts against them to cause a crumple state, and seal their Substitution for five seconds. Additionally, this restrains the target, causing the next attack they receive to deal +50% extra damage. This combination overall leaves the enemy very vulnerable for a brief time.
Usage Tips[]
Octopus Hug is very versatile, and can be implemented in many ways. It's good at catching opponents ready to Chakra Jump, since it will cancel out their jump and keep them where they were so the user/their team can start a counter attack. It's also quite strong at intercepting attacks, allowing you to start a combo off of someone else's aggression. But by ignoring guard, it also has the powerful quality of being able to open up an overly defensive enemy.
Just get accustomed to the distance at which Octopus Hug hits versus where it misses, and you'll struggle to not find uses for it.
Why 43.5 Damage?[]
Both hits, including the initial hit (the one that stuns before the tentacle wraps around the enemy) have a restraining effect, this amplifies the damage dealt by the next hit by x1.5. Due this quality, the damage of the second hit takes advantage of this modifier, turning an awkward 29 into an awkwarder 43.5, making this the only jutsu in the game to deal self-supplied fractional damage.
